The Learning Resources Centre Partnership

Castle Rock Research Corp, an Edmonton-based developer of resources that support scholastic performance by focusing on instruction, assessment, diagnostics, and remediation, is pleased to announce that it has expanded its strategic alliance with Learning Resources Centre (LRC) for the distribution of their KEY and SNAP print resources.

LRC, a provider of educational learning resources to Alberta schools, will exclusively distribute Castle Rock’s core print products to school customers in Alberta. Under this alliance, Castle Rock Research resources will be provided to Alberta school customers that currently access LRC’s one-stop-shop and other value-added services.

The Key

THE KEY Student Study Guides have been and continue to be the core products of Castle Rock Research Corp. This resource helps students to prepare for their school tests, final exams, and standardized assessments. THE KEY Guides are developed using licensed government exams and through Castle Rock Research’s own item development processes.

THE KEY resources have been enhanced this year with the addition of two new sections. Key Factors Contributing to School Success provides students with examples of study and review strategies. Topics include information on learning styles, study schedules, and developing review notes. Also, Key Strategies for Success on Exams explores topics such as common exam question formats and strategies for responding, directing words most commonly used, how to begin the exam, and managing test anxiety. Some Keys have also been updated with either new unit tests or learning pieces.

Castle Rock Research currently produces 32 different KEY Student Study Guides that are aligned to the current Alberta curriculum of subjects from grades 3 to 12.

SNAPs

Student Notes and Problems (SNAP) are a series of student workbooks that present complete explanations of curriculum concepts and provide illustrative examples that can be used by teachers in the classroom. Examples are designed to take students from guided learning to independent practice. Teachers are able to assign additional questions for homework out of the many questions that are provided for each topic in the classroom or serve as self-study aids for students working independently.
