MORE INFORMATION
Each unit includes essential teaching pieces, practice questions, unit tests, and answers and detailed solutions. The complete solutions show problem-solving methods, explain key concepts, and highlight potential errors. This resource is ideal for use throughout the year by students, teachers, and parents, at home or at school.
A Table of Correlations at the beginning of each issue identifies the curriculum outcomes, and the practice and unit test questions that follow specifically test those concepts. To help students understand the curriculum, THE KEY provides explanations for key concepts at the beginning of each unit, questions related to those key concepts, and a practice test at the end of the unit. Complete course practice tests – based on the same criteria used to develop provincial diploma exams – are included in THE KEY. Students may use these practice tests to become familiar with the format and rigour of the provincial exam. Detailed solutions are provided for all questions and show the processes and ideas used in arriving at the correct answers. These solutions may help students gain a better understanding of the concepts that are being tested. In addition, the appendix includes a glossary of terms that identifies key terminology used throughout the course.
Two new sections have been added to THE KEY to enhance student achievement and success:
- KEY Factors Contributing to School Success provides students with suggestions for reaching their potential at school, identifying their particular learning style, mazimizing their study time, and reviewing notes effectively. This section includes a checklist to help students assess their strategies for success.
- KEY Strategies for Success on Exams focuses on preparing students to write exams. This section provides students with study options for exam preparation, descriptions of common exam question formats, tips for understanding common question formats and directing words, suggestions for managing test anxiety, strategies to use before and during an exam, and tips for selected subject areas.
