Our Story

I founded Castle Rock Research Corporation in 1995 with the hope to inspire learning the way I was inspired as a child. I recognized during my youth that an inspired student is willing to work hard to succeed, and this is true for children across the world. I graduated from the University of Alberta in 1986 having studied both mathematics and business, and was eager to apply this knowledge to the next generation. My personal goal was to play a part in improving the quality of education for our youth and help them build strong foundations for academic success.

Castle Rock began with offerings of English Language Arts, Mathematics and Science exam preparation materials for students in Canada, first at the high school level and then expanding to support students from grades 3-12. By 2007, we further expanded to offer all 50 United States materials aligned to their state-level curricula, as well to schools in the United Kingdom and India, reaching millions of students worldwide.

Given the growth of education technology and the rapid expansion of online learning, we developed a comprehensive digital study guide platform in 2012 to complement our print resources for students across North America. Between The Key and SNAP print study guide materials and the digital Student-Oriented Learning, Assessment, & Reporting Online (SOLARO), our mission continues to be helping students unlock their full academic potential.
